What happens if we listen to the Forest? Spatial Practices Forest Talks Series Launching 21.10 : Wilderness

In The Forest Talks, we will listen to the forest through the voices of those trying to protect them: stories of courage and resistance that show how forests have inspired and provided respite to resource activists and movements dedicated to social and ecological justice.

The first Forest Talk, Wilderness, Thursday October 21, will explore links between urban and arboreal environments, our intrinsic connection to trees and ideas around planetary care.

Hosted by Farhana Yamin, Climate Lawyer, IPCC Author and Justice Activist, and Joy Mulandi, Architect and M ARCH: Architecture alumni, Wilderness introduces the work of the Walking Forest Team’s Ruth Ben-Tovim, Lucy Neal and Anne-Marie Culhane, who will present some of their projects including one that follows a felled HS2 tree that moved through the streets of Coventry, carried by a large group of women in an act of endurance and love for the planet and future generations.

The tree stopped at points across the city where it became a speakers’ corner, a shelter, a ceremonial space for stories, conversations, performances and exchanges of all kinds.
