Webinar: Climate Justice Re-Granters and Movement Building
How might re-granters better support climate justice movements? What are the models that can shift power and resources to the frontlines?
About this event
Globally, less than 2% of global philanthropy goes towards supporting organisations working on climate mitigation, with approximately 0.5% of philanthropy going to environmental initiatives in the Global South, and only 0.2% going to women-led environmental initiatives (One Earth). Re-granters play a key role in increasing the access to, and amount of, mainstream philanthropic funding going to climate justice and just transition efforts led by front line communities. How might re-granters better support climate justice movements? What are the models and opportunities that can shift power and resources to those on the front lines of climate injustice? As part of NY Climate Week, join the Climate Justice-Just Transition Donor Collaborative on a webinar to discuss how philanthropy can better support movement building and solutions put forward by those on the front lines. Moderated by Climate Justice Resilience Fund in partnership with Green Africa Youth Organization, we will explore how philanthropy might shift the systemic barriers currently faced by climate justice.
