Global South Youth Regranters Network Retreat

Since February 2021, the Climate Justice-Just Transition (CJ-JT) Donor Collaborative has been hosting discussions and high-level events with the field and funders to generate new ideas for philanthropy to shift power and resources to the frontlines. With our partners and through our learning journey, mapping of CJ-JT initiatives and our movement building re-granting efforts, we have identified an important gap: there is no formal, long-term philanthropic infrastructure convening existing and emerging youth-focused donors, re-granters and Global South-based organisations to coordinate and increase funding to youth-led movements in the Global South.

In partnership with the Youth Climate Justice Fund, Green Africa Youth Organization, Adeso, Southern African Trust and Southern African Youth Forum, and in connection with many other partners and allies, we have been co-designing a new network to address this gap.

From June 1-3, we are co-convening youth movement leaders, change-makers and funders to connect, share good practices and imagine what a well resourced network of youth-focused funders, especially based in the Global South, might look like.
